Case Study: Double Dog Dare Salsa Packaging & Campaign

  

Objective

Double Dog Dare, a bold and playful salsa brand, wanted packaging and marketing materials that reflected its energetic personality, flavor intensity, and fun “dare” brand positioning. The goal was to create salsa packaging that stood out on shelves while appealing to adventurous snackers.

Process

  • Research & Exploration: Reviewed salsa and condiment competitors to identify gaps in how heat levels and flavors were communicated.
     
  • Design Concept: Developed a flavor-coded packaging system (yellow = medium, green = mild, red = hot) with distressed textures and a dynamic chili pepper illustration for quick recognition.
     
  • Brand Personality: Designed the Double Dog Dare mascot logo to add a bold, rebellious, and slightly playful tone.
     
  • Marketing Campaign: Created promotional visuals with the tagline “We Double Dog Dare You!”, using vibrant colors, layered textures, and bold typography to emphasize brand energy.

  • A three-tier packaging system for Mild, Medium, and Hot salsas with consistent branding and color-coded labels.
     
  • Eye-catching promotional graphics encouraging trial of all flavors.
